Left Front licks its wounds, turnaround tough | IBN

turnaround

Left Front is busy defeat their wounds after the thrashing in West Bengal municipal elections in the hands of Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress.

Sunday's result of municipal election seems to be a green signal for the Trinamool supporters after 34 years of Red rule in the state. Trinamool supporters take a victory rally, which went right in front of the Communist Party of India-Marxist office in Kolkata. There was a clear suggestion that the red castle was lost.

"We need to revise the community poll results and the need to examine what is wrong and look within ourselves and to the right in ourselves. Liberals must think about the interests of people and we need to adopt such programs. Will try to repair this damage, says Left Front chairman Biman Bose.

But it may be too little too late. Slide that began in 2008 Panchayat polls followed by aircraft in 2009 Lok Sabha elections seen as a referendum on the Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee government's aggressive industrialization continues.

CPI-M's internal review had blamed the erosion of Muslim votes and haughtiness of the party cadres among the most important factors. After Trinamool's resounding victory, the CPI-M is under pressure to look for a silver line.

"We have not been able to reverse the slide, but has been unable to arrest it," senior CPI-M leader Sitaram Yechury said.

But neither a re-look at the acquisition of property or the promise of reservations in jobs for Muslims seems to have worked with voters. After 34 years of communalist rule West Bengal think it is thirsty for "pariborton" (change).

There is no doubt that there is a massive anger against the Liberals, not only from the voters, or the public, but also from the liberal supporters make a political rotate would be almost impossible.
The next challenge for the Liberals will be the Assembly elections in 2011.

With a crushing Mamata and no clear instantaneous solutions available before the peers, the next few months will be very easier said than done for the Left in West Bengal.
