Annu Kapoor was born on 20 February 1956 is an Indian film actor and television presenter, best remembered for hosting the singing reality show Antakshari.
When Annu Kapoor turns 50, there's more than enough reason for celebration. This time, it was the actor's family that went all out to make the event a special one.
While Kapoor was busy conducting a special classical music concert for Parampara, his family set up a rather interesting evening at J W Marriott.
A major highlight was the short film shot by Annu's sister Seema, and brother Nikhil. A walk down memory lane, it had vignettes from Annu's old school and college days, his teachers, messages and wishes from his friends and family.
Wife Pammi, who was responsible for bringing so many people from her husband's past together, also prepared a collage that captured Annu's career through the years.
Career
Annu Kapoor made his debut in the film Mandi directed by Shyam Benegal in 1979.[3] His career has spanned nearly 31 years including a distinctive presence in Bollywood cinema, television serials, and reality game shows. He is best remembered for hosting the singing show Antakshari produced by silver screen veteran Gajendra Singh. He recently won critical acclaim for his character of a neighbor and debt collector in Raincoat (film) in 2004.
In 2007 the mega hit programme Antakshari came back from the dead on Star One. It was widely publicized in 2006 that it was going to end for ever and a grand grand finale was held for the same. During its initial course of running, Antakshari ran from 1993 to 2006 on Zee TV.
Annu Kapoor hosted Antakshari: The Great Challenge, Juhi Parmar, on Star Plus.Annu Kapoor also acted as Kabir in a DD serial by the same name.
Personal life
Annu Kapoor is a follower of numerology. With the coming of Antakshari-The Great Challenge on Star One, he has changed the spelling of his last name from Kapoor to Kapur (along with Gajendra Singh who spells his name with an extra 'R' in the first name, and an extra 'I' in the last name.)
In the 3 October 2007 episode of the DD National show Music, Masti aur Dhoom, Anu Kapoor stated that he wanted to become a surgeon, but he could not afford to study as his family was poor. In an episode of the DD National show Wheel Smart Shrimati, he mentioned that he was born in Jhalawar in rajasthan......
He is the ex-brother-in-law of actor Om Puri. His sister, Seema Kapoor, a documentary film-maker, married Om Puri in 1990 & was divorced by the actor in 1993.

He was popularly known as Netaji and was a legend in the Indian Independence movement. Bose was elected president of the Indian National Congress for two consecutive terms in 1938 and 1939, but had to resign from the post following ideological conflicts with Mahatma Gandhi and after openly attacking the Congress' foreign and internal policies.
Bose believed that Mahatma Gandhi's tactics of non-violence would never be sufficient to secure India's independence, and advocated violent resistance. He established a separate political party, the All India Forward Bloc and continued to call for the full and immediate independence of India from British rule. He was imprisoned by the British authorities eleven times. His famous motto was "Give me blood and I will give you freedom".

This can happen only in the world of Bollywood. And for the trivia happy, this one will certainly go down as the mother of all, at least in the current year.
Last week the readers were informed about how an altogether new song had been composed for Sajid Nadiadwala's Anjaana Anjaani and was all set for picturisation today i.e. Monday. But wait, there is a lot more than meets the eye.
Today also happens to be Vishal Dadlani's (of Vishal-Shekhar duo) birthday. 'Well, happy birthday Vishal', one immediately wishes and also adds in the same breath, 'So how does this contribute to any trivia?'
Well, in a lot of ways actually! Here we go:
1. This is not the first time that a song with Vishal-Shekhar as the composers has been shot on Vishal's birthday. Two years ago, a song from Bachna Ae Haseeno was also shot on the same day.
2. Both Bachna Ae Haseeno and Anjaana Anjaani have music by Vishal-Shekhar, Siddharth Anand as the director and Ranbir Kapoor as the leading man.
3. The song shot in both instances was the title track
4. Both are club songs
5. During the song composition for Bachna Ae Haseeno, Vishal-Shekhar were composing for Tarun Mansukhani's Dostana. During the song composition for Anjaana Anjaani, Vishal-Shekhar were composing for Dostana 2.
6. In both instances, Tarun readily allowed his dates with Vishal-Shekhar to be utilised for Siddharth's film.
7. Both the tracks feature relatively new singers. While Bachna Ae Haseeno track saw Sumeet Kumar, son of Kishore Kumar coming behind the mike, Anjaana Anjaani has newbie Nikhil D'Souza pairing up with Monali Thakur (of 'Zara Zara Touch Me' fame).
8. Just as was the case with Bachna Ae Haseeno title track, even Anjaana Anjaani title track was the last to be recorded by Vishal-Shekhar. Naturally, in both the instances, these have turned out to be the last song from the film shot by Siddharth Anand.
One wonders whether this trivia could indeed by titled as 'Ajab Vishal Ke Ghazab Birthday Ki Kahani'?
Laughs Vishal, "Well, this is some mad coincidence! Wild, ain't it?"
