Maruti Kizashi launched at Rs 16.5 - 17.5 Lakhs

Indian auto giant Maruti Suzuki has officially announced that it will launch a much anticipated model of the Indian market and Kizashi 2 February 2011. New Maruti sedan is priced at Rs 16 lakh in the Indian market, which is the most expensive sedan Maruti's portfolio in India ever.

Maruti Suzuki India Limited, the country's largest car manufacturer on Wednesday unveiled it's much awaited luxurious and sporty sedan, 'Kizashi'.

Kizashi is the company's first offering in the upper end of the Indian car market.

Sporting Suzuki’s state-of-art 2.4L petrol engine the Kizashi model is capable of churning-out a peak power of 185hp along with a peak torque of 230 Nm. Though the car is available in both two and four wheel drive versions in the foreign markets, it is expected to be launched in only 2wd variant in India. The powerful engine of Kizashi will come blessed with a six-speed manual transmission.

Kizashi will be available in India in two variants: Manual Transmission (MT) and Continuous Variable Transmission (CVT).

Maruti sales top 100,000 a month for first time

Car major Maruti Suzuki Tuesday reported 27.9% jump in sales in May to 102,175 units compared with 79,872 vehicles sold in the year ago era.

This is the first automaker has ever sold over 100,000 units a month, the previous highest monthly sales amount is 96,650 units in February.

"In May, the domestic sales of 90,041 units domestically, up 27.2% over the corresponding month last year. This is the highest ever domestic for a month, the company said in a statement.

Exports during the month increased 33.5% to 12,134 units.

Sales in the compact car (A2) segment consists Alto, grew Wagon-R, Zen, Swift, Ritz and A-Star 16.6% at 62,679 units in May 2009.

Sales of cars in their medium (A3) segment consists SX4 and D'Zire rose% to 60.5 10,883 cars, while it sold 12,953 cars in the C segment, which consists of the Omni, Versa, and Eeco launched in January of year .

The Maruti scrip case was 3.35% up to Rs.1, 278.35 on the Bombay Stock Exchange, which touched an intraday high of Rs.1, 281.45.
