Nifty ends at 5250; Hindalco, Tata Steel, RCom down

Indian markets ended in the red on Tuesday mirroring losses in global peers. The worst hit were stocks from metals, realty and banks whereas FMCG and capital goods ended with minimal losses.
National Stock Exchange’s Nifty ended at 5255.50, down 78 points or 1.46 per cent. The index touched a high of 5334.15 and low of 5235.80 in today’s trade.
Bombay Stock Exchange’s Sensex closed at 17534.99, down 239.27 points or 1.35 per cent. The index touched intraday low of 17465.73 and high of 17777.95.
BSE Midcap Index was down 0.72 per cent and BSE Smallcap Index moved 0.65 per cent lower.
Amongst the sectoral indices BSE Metal Index was down 2.81 per cent, BSE Realty Index declined 1.63 per cent and BSE Bankex moved 1.60 per cent lower.
Losers included Hindalco (-4.51%), Reliance Communications (-4.17%), Tata Steel (-3.77%), Reliance Capital (-3.57%) and Ambuja Cement (-3.25%).
IDFC (1.26%), ONGC (0.38%), Bharti Airtel (0.15%) and L&T (0.15%) were the only Nifty gainers.
Market breadth was negative on the NSE with 1899 declines against 1235 advances.

Nifty ends volatile session on flat note ahead of expiry

The equity benchmarks witnessed consolidation throughout the session on Wednesday, ahead of F&O expiry for the month of June. First half of trade was negative with modest losses on weak global cues and the Nifty struggled at the 5300 level. However, the Nifty managed to hold 5300 in the last couple of hours.
Telecom, healthcare, realty, FMCG, cement, private financial and select technology companies' shares were on the buyers' radar. However, selling in heavyweights like L&T, NTPC, Reliance Industries, ONGC and SBI capped the gains. Jindal Steel, Sterlite, Reliance Power, HCL Tech, Wipro, Tata Motors, Kotak Mahindra Bank, IDFC and M&M were the other losers in trade.
Nifty hits 5K on Ambani brothers patch-up news

The benchmark Nifty began the day with a strong and hit the 5000 mark on the Ambani brother’s patch-up news. Both brothers finally compete. Short cover was a reason behind this add to. Global cues being positive.
Mukesh Ambani and Anil agreed to cancel all non-compete agreement. Heavyweight Reliance Industries rose by 5%.
Anil Ambani Dhirbhai Group - Reliance Power rose 11.5%. Reliance Power, Reliance Capital, Reliance Infrastructure and Reliance Communications was up 5.7%. RNRL rose 30%.
At 9:02 hours IST Nifty was trading at 5001, up 70.55 points, Sensex was at 16,680, up 234 points.
The CNX MidCap rose 118 points to 7700 and BSE Smallcap rose 119 points to 8534th About 667 shares advanced, while 79 shares declined on NSE.
In the middle of other front-liners be Tata Motors, Tata Steel, Jaiprakash Associates, Unitech and Ster Lite Industries.
ICICI Bank rose 1.8% and Bank of Rajasthan was 9%. Both banks' boards accepted the merger and fixed swap ratio of 1:4.72.
There was, though, Sun Pharma, Bharti and blow downward.
Godrej Consumer shot up to 10%. The company bought the Hair Company in LATAM.
Gujarat nourish Coke were up 5.4% and Aban Offshore up 3.55%.
Hindu Balrampur Chini Bajaj than, and were up 2.4% each.
Asian markets were trading higher. Shanghai shot up 3%. Straits Times, Taiwan Weighted, Jakarta and the Hang Seng rose 0.7 to 1.7%. Kospi rose 0.3% while the Nikkei fell 0.3%.
Adani Enterprises but fell 7%.
Sensex Turns Choppy IT
Monday, May 17, 2010 Indian markets have witnessed a range session held on Tuesday, according to its negative stereotypes Asian peers. Metals, automobiles and banks led by a decline, while capital goods and stocks of pharmaceuticals some resistance.

National Stock Exchange Nifty was 5,035.85, down 24.05 points or 0.48 percent. The index touched the highest and lowest 5071.55 5024.25.
BSE Midcap Index rose 0.13 per cent and BSE Smallcap Index moved 0.70 percent higher.
Among the sectoral indices, BSE Metal index fell 1.36 percent and the BSE Bankex was 0.82 percent. BSE Capital Goods Index moved 0.72 per cent higher and BSE healthcare index was 0.33 percent.
Tata Motors (-1.84%), Tata Power (-1.79%), Hindalco Industries (-1.65%), HDFC Bank (-1.56%) and Sterlite Industries (-1.54%), Top Sensex losers were.
L & T (2.02%), Grasim Industries (1.47%), Wipro (1.35%), Bharti Airtel (1.29%) and Reliance Communications (0.99%) was the winner index higher.

Asian markets were mixed. Nikkei 225 rose to 0.45 percent, and Hang Seng was 0.17 percent. Shanghai composite fell 0.81 per cent and Seoul composite fell 0.61 percent.
