'SYTYCD' Top 9 Live Results: Who Gets Eliminated?
Thursday, July 1, 2010
Everybody knows that Melinda Sullivan deserves to go home on So You Think You Can Dance. The fans at BuddyTV unanimously agreed that she should go. Nigel Lythgoe wanted her gone last week. Mia Michaels and Adam Shankman apologized for not eliminating her already. But is that enough?
If the judges eliminate yet another girl, we'll be down to 75 percent guys. Those odds might be good for a woman at a singles mixer, but it presents a very lop-sided SYTYCD.
Obama signs Iran sanctions Bill

President Barack Obama has signed a Bill imposing tough new sanctions against Iran over its alleged nuclear weapons programme.
The Bill Mr. Obama signed on Thursday evening in an East Room ceremony targets exports of gasoline and other refined petroleum products to Iran. It bans U.S. banks from doing business with foreign banks providing services to Iran’s Revolutionary Guard.
The administration hopes the new unilateral sanctions, combined with ones approved last month in the U.N. Security Council, will yield results even though previous regimens failed to halt Iran’s activities that could lead to nuclear weapons development. The U.N. sanctions target the Revolutionary Guard, ballistic missiles and nuclear-related investments.
As lawmakers looked on, Mr. Obama called the new law the “toughest sanctions against Iran ever passed by the United States Congress.” But he said he had not sought the outcome, contending it was chosen by an Iranian government which for years has defied U.N. resolutions and forged ahead with its nuclear programs while supporting terrorist groups and suppressing the Iranian people.
While insisting the door to diplomacy remains open, Mr. Obama said, “We are showing the Iranian government that its actions have consequences.”
“There should be no doubt — the United States and the international community are determined to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons,” the President said.

Thursday, June 17, 2010
The United States and its allies are swiftly tightening an economic cordon around Iran by imposing new strictures that could inflict far more economic pain on the Islamic republic than previous sanctions.
On Thursday, European Union governments agreed to ban companies from investing in or otherwise assisting Iran's oil and gas industry -- measures that went well beyond a U.N. Security Council resolution last week that reiterated international demands that Iran forswear nuclear weapons. Along with the United States, Australia, Japan, South Korea and other countries are set to adopt or strengthen their own sanctions against trading with Iran.

And we will continue to urge Pakistan to take decisive action against the violent extremists who intimidate their own interests as much as they do for the security of India and America, "Burns said in a speech to the Council on Foreign family members, a Washington think tank.
"To say in simple, he said," the only "dash" that we will continue with respect to our relationship is what connects the United States and India. ”
He noted that Manmohan Singh had made it clear the significance he attaches to India and an effective Pakistani action against terrorists, predominantly those responsible for the November 2008 Mumbai terror attacks.
Pakistan has also declared, "That they will pursue the matter of the suspects in the Mumbai attack energetically" Burns said. "It was important not only for the U.S., but for the rest of the international community to see it happen and watch taken effective procedures against violent extremists who threaten not only India but Pakistan's own security."
Pointing to the theatrical expansion of U.S. law enforcement and counter-terrorism cooperation with India after the Mumbai attacks, he said: "It certainly reflects the very strong U.S. promise to fighting violent extremists in this part of the world."
"I think it also helps create an atmosphere where India and Pakistan can move forward," Burns said when asked what the U.S. did to help the reconciliation between the two South Asian neighbors.

He also noted that more than 20 people in the United States have been arrested on charges of terrorist crimes, plots and plans disrupted because of the Obama administration took office in January 2009.

Wang Presses U.S. on Lifting Export Controls to China
Sunday, May 23, 2010
China pressed the United States to give a timetable for relaxing restrictions on technology exports Commerce The Secretary Gary Locke pledged to curb the number of products subject to restrictions.
"China is pleased that U.S. initiative to relax U.S. export controls," Wang Qishan, Vice Premier of China, said at the beginning of the security and economic dialogue in Beijing today. "We hope to hear from the American side in detail a timetable and roadmap for the gradual removal of barriers on high-tech exports to China."
Chinese officials, entrepreneurs, students, and journalists have been questioned by U.S. restrictions require licenses for export of civilian technology that could have military purposes under Locke's weeklong trade mission to China.
Locke said a review of the controls that would curb the number of elements covered by the measures and impose tighter restrictions on these lines will be completed this summer.
"We look forward to continuing to work with the Chinese government on non-proliferation and with Chinese companies on export control compliance practices are in accordance with international standards," Kevin Griffis, a Commerce spokesman, said in an e-mail. Still "the impact of U.S. export restrictions on high-tech trade with China is very small."
Of the $ 63400000000 in U.S. exports to China in 2009, only 0.3 percent demanded a trade license under the Commerce Ministry data. Less than 2 percent of all such applications to China were rejected, it said.
Wang also pressed the U.S. to give China the so-called market economy status, a designation that could limit the size of anti-dumping duties on Chinese goods. This change requires China meet the legal barriers to employment and foreign exchange markets, "says Locke, 19 May

Iran's nuclear fuel swap deal does not address all concerns: US
Thursday, May 20, 2010
The White House has said Iran & apos recent nuclear fuel exchange agreements with Turkey and Brazil do not speak to all concern in the United States and its global partners in Tehran & apos nuclear arms program.
"While we be familiar with and be grateful for the efforts of the Turks and Brazilians, I think it is significant to appreciate that this accord alone will not solve, or that the suggestion only in incomplete form does not address fully all the concerns that the P5-plus-1 and the larger international community with Iran & apos nuclear agenda, "White House Press desk Robert Gibbs told his daily press meeting.
"I think it & apos significant to understand that the suggestion that Iran says they entered & aposve now less than what they have decided to eight months ago. They did not agree with, as they had in October, sitting down with the P5 plus one to a broader and fuller conversation of Iran & apos nuclear agenda, "he said in reply to a question.
Iran has not decided to provide unimpeded right of entry to its nuclear facilities, Gibbs said, adding the proposal does not take up any higher enrichment that Tehran claimed that it was essential to provide materials for its research reactor.
Argue that it is accountable for ensuring that the Iranians have and that they must take on, "said Gibbs," While the proposal were outlined on Monday will be a step in the right course because of the amount of low enriched uranium, which would have transferred - again, providedthat the Iranians kept their part of the accord, which has not - has almost never been the case - we've had eight months sequence. "
development have included greater than before enrichment, "said Gibbs, adding the suggestion, again not living up to and counting that Tehran would make eight months ago.
White House lecturer valued role as Brazil and Turkey in this regard.
"I want to be familiar with the role they played in trying to persuade Iran to live up to their obligation. I think the international group of people by releasing the agreement of the P5-plus-one after this, appreciate that more needs to be done," said Gibbs.
Obama, Erdogan Discuss Iran Deal

United States responded with little fanfare to communication with officials in Washington and some of the other major powers involved in the deadlock, said the agreement signed with the external communication of Turkey and Brazil have failed to ease their concerns that Iran is eventually intended to develop a nuclear weapons capability.
During Wednesday's call, "said Obama raised those concerns again," Erdogan that the international community is divided "the continuing and fundamental concerns about Iran's overall nuclear program and Iran's lack of living up to its international obligations."
Tuesday the United States introduced a UN resolution aimed at Iran's alleged nuclear weapons program, won long-awaited and important support from China and Russia for new sanctions against his powerful Revolutionary Guard, and new measures to try to limit Iran's military, economic, and shipping.
Iran rejected the resolution as "illegal" on Wednesday, calling it a reactionary response to the Turkish-Brazilian deal.
"The resolution being debated in the Security Council has no legitimacy whatsoever," the official news agency IRNA quoted the top Iranian presidential advisor Mojtaba Samareh Hashemi as saying after a cabinet meeting.
U.S. Ambassador to UN Susan Rice emphasized that the draft resolution and uranium swap agreement has nothing to do with each other and told reporters that Iran's decision to continue enriching uranium to 20 percent strengthens its violations of sanctions and "eliminates any confidence-building potential.
The senior UN diplomat has raised some questions about Iran-Turkey-Brazil agreement, noting that in the first paragraph, says that Iran has the right to enrich nuclear material that is not expressly permitted under the Nuclear Proliferation Treaty and is prohibited under previous UNSC resolutions .
