RIP Miguel Delibes

Spanish literary great Miguel Delibes has passed away after a long battle with cancer.

It's funny how the years fly by, you forget about a certain person for what seems like 5 minutes and the next thing you know they're no longer with us. A perfect example would be the death of the famous Spanish Author Miguel Delibes who died at 7 am this morning. The award winning writer was 89 years old but you never see these things coming. Delibes was one of the most influential Spanish writers and was renowned for his work which brought to light the harsh way of life in deep Spain. In case you're not convinced that Delibes was a big deal,he even received a call from King Juan Carlos shortly before he passed who was concerned about his well being. Since the publication of his first novel,"La sombra del ciprés es alargada" in 1947 up until his last offering just over a decade ago the author remained a popular choice amongst avid readers.

Miguel Delibes will be remembered as a great story teller who enjoyed his siesta and entertained countless minds.
