Está lloviendo de nuevo en Murcia

Tuesday, October 13, 2009
The lovely bright morning we started off with here in Murcia was destined not to last, according to the early-morning weather forecast on two of the Spanish television channels I watch (the national TVE and the local 7RM) and the sky duly clouded-over by late morning and in the early afternoon the rain started and has since strengthened with bouts of quuite heavy rain. Accentuating the positive,

Music in Spain

Sunday, September 28, 2008
One of the things I want to be able to do during some of my lengthier visits here in the future is to take time, and to make time, to attend some concerts and if possible an opera or two; I know that in our area there are possibilities for this in such cities as Murcia and Cartagena and perhaps a little closer in places like Lorca. In any case, I came across this recording of one of the most

Spanish classical guitar music - Santiago de Murcia

Monday, August 18, 2008
Little seems to be known about where Santiago de Murcia was born or what were the precise dates of his birth and death, although his dates are thought (by the Naxos classical music label) to be 1685-1732; this potted biography seems less certain, although it does seem certain about where he lived from 1714. However, his music is enjoyable and this piece was played by Paul O'Dette on baroque

Beautiful sweet music!

Sunday, May 25, 2008
I came across this video on YouTube of what is described as Latin-fusion by guitarist Lawson Rollins performing on a Spanish guitar.- the connection with Spain, other than that he is using a Spanish guitar, is tendentious, but his is a virtuoso performance and I like it. Why, I might even get a CD or a DVD of him performing.

Bill does lunch

Thursday, April 10, 2008
Strictly for YouTube addicts! I thought I would share with readers the sight of me preparing my lunch earlier today. Usually lunch for me, even when I'm in Scotland is on a cold winter day, is cold - either cold meats or fish, accompanied by a mixed salad. What I decided to have today was some Serrano ham (a Spanish dry-cured ham) and my usual salad. I always prepare the salad first, then the
