This blog is about the whole of the Netherlands.

Our group exists of Thom van Seijen, Richard Agerbeek, Hema Hassan, Nick van Hezel and myself Alwin van den Bosch. Thom van Seijen is doing things about Amsterdam, Richard Agerbeek is doing it about Rotterdam, Nick van Hezel is doing it about Giethoorn and about Zwolle and Hema Hassan is doing it about entertainment in Holland.

I'm Alwin van den Bosch, my hobby's are skateboarding, playing guitar, soccer and playing on the computer. I have one twin brother also on this school. With this blog I choose for the subject Arnhem and I manage the blog.

Theme parks

Walibi World
Walibi World which was the former Six Flags in Holland is a great theme park where is a lot to do and it's greatest rollercoaster is called the Goliath, it's build in 2001 and is 153 ft long this makes it the tallest and its definitly one of the best. On this trip you will go trough land and lake with a very high speed, air time occurs 7 times and there are 4 moments of high positive G forces wich gives a great kick. It's number 7 on the best European rollercoaster list. Other adventures you can make in Walibi World are the Xpress, Robin Hood, La Via Volta.

The Efteling
The Efteling is a childfriendly theme park with all sorts of things to do from theater to restaurant to nice attractions, like the Python or the Pegasus. It's
great just to look at it. Attracion for little children are the langlaufcourse and the Pofka Maria.

Duinrell
Duinrell is a beautifull park in middle of the nature near the sea and forest, a theme park and a swimming pool. You can go there to relax or have some action so everybody can go there and do what they like.

Drievliet
Drievliet amusement park; fun and pleasure for the whole family Take a step into the 'Jungle Show', a computerised show at the jungle theatre where animals take you into the adventures and mysteries of the jungle. As a real pirate you will have fun around the ship of Captain Sjhaak in the ‘Pirate village’. Movie lovers will enjoy the 'Cine Magic'. In this dome theatre you can 'feel' the movie, which is projected on a 180 degree screen. Sensational is to ride the 'Copper mine' rollercoaster, where one can take place in a mine wagon which will lead you up to a 20 meter high mineshaft above several rock formations. In the adventurous ‘Jungle River’, you can conquer the wild river with its waterfalls in a boat in the shape of a hollow tree-trunk.


Koningin Juliana Toren
Koningin Juliana Toren is Hollands most complete theme park for the whole famillie. The park offers alot pleasure and safety. Also for the smaller one's there is something to do : Like the giant rad, the cabel track and the ball bath. The amusement park is laid on the edge of wonderfull forrest of Apeldoorn. The park get's its name by the old tower made in 1910.
From the tower you have a beautifull view over the natural environments of the park.

Arnhem

Let you surprise by Arnhem with their many cafes and restaurants. There is not only nightlife in Arnhem. There is also a residential area and business parks, shopping malls and looking at art. Arnhem is a green city. It is in the north bounded with beautiful forests and heath fields and in the south by fertile flood planes. But also in the city is the nature by hand with the use of parks, country estates and public gardens.

Burger's zoo

Burgers' Zoo is a new type of zoo. Animals are not staying in residences, but make part out of a bigger whole: an ecosystem. Therefore is a visit at Burger's zoo a real survival. The animals let their natural behaviour seen, because they are living in a natural environment. And that while the visitors from all facilities can be used: a huge parking, a great restaurant and a huge playground!

Holland open air museum

In 1912 made several concerned particulars in Arnhem an open air museum. They thought that increasing industrializing and urbanizing, a big wealth of Holland traditions and religious variety gone to be failed. The corporation taked the country estate De Waterberg from the community Arnhem. A several buildings come to the terrain and so become the Holland open air museum. On 13 juli 1918 it opens. In 1941 become it open air museum and other name 'national museum of folklore' after which several difficult war years began.It Holland open air museum is a national museum about culture from daily life of normal people.

Gelredome

Climate control

Climate control in the winter in every corner of the whole Gelredome warmed, and in the summer completely air cooled. This is managed by a advanced climate control, that is durable and environment-friendly

Moveable roof

Moveable roof increase the functionality of the Gelredome. With the roof closed and the lights out the Gelredome is completely dark. A blackbox with many possibilities for performances, presentations and concerts.

Slide able field

A slide able field is the important innovation of the Gelredome. The complete 'storage' with free half meter under the southern tribune through the station in and out slide able. There are two advantages of that field: First advantage: the grass cover lies outside and stays in a perfect condition second advantage: the flat concrete floor in the stadium is perfectly used for events.A standing public from 16.000 visitors of a sit-down dining for 8000 are both possible.

Zwolle.

Zwolle its inner city is filled with monumental buildings. during several tours you can learn a lot about them. but there also is lots of other stuff to do in Zwolle like go shopping, visit one of the many restaurants or take a trip to the city museum or the "Environmental educative" museum The Ecodrome. in the 15th century it developed to a powerfull Hanzestad, but its not all about history... Zwolle has above 110 thousand citizens. Its city full of culture and art. Zwolle got several Cafe's, bistros and other restaurants. So its a big city but its "intimity" is still remained.

A very impressive medieval building. It has no big use anymore today but years ago it was used as a defensive building.



De Broeren Kerk
You can also visit "De Broeren Kerk" (the brothers church) which was built in about 1465 by the dominicans. Inside the church are several religous paintings. A part of the monastary complex is used as a conservatorium.

Tourism of Amsterdam

Amsterdam is the capital of Holland. Amsterdam is about 720 years old. In 1275 Floris the 5th called the city Amsterdam. Amsterdam is a very touristic city. The best way to go trough Amsterdam is by a bicycle or tram, because there is much traffic and not much parking zones and the parking zones are very expensive.
Amsterdam is divided in 15 parts called: Slotervaart, Zuidoost, Westerpark, Oudwest, Centrum, Oudzuid, Westpoort, Geuzenveld, De Baarsjes, Watergraafsmeer, Bos en Lommer, Osdorp, Zeeburg, ZuiderAmstel. Amsterdam has a area of 22.000 hectares. There are about 735.328 people are living in Amsterdam.

A place where a lot of tourists come is the Dam. There are beautiful buildings, and also a palace on the dam. There is also a statue in the middle on the Dam. The tourists like to see the funny street artists and feeding the pigeons on the Dam.

The statue on the Dam remembers the victims of the WO2. Once a year on the 4th of May, a lot of people in Amsterdam come together on the Dam and put flowers by the statue in memory of the victims. And on 5 May we are celebraiting our freedom after the WO2( it is also my birthday)

Amsterdam has also a zoo called Artis, it was the first zoo in Holland. It was made in 1838.
It lies in the middle in Amsterdam and has a lot of animals. In the beginning they only had a few monky`s, deers and parrots. Now they have all kinds of animals. On the 2th of December in 1882 the aquarium was opened in Artis. The water for aquarium was brought by big steamships. Artis has for about 500 diffrent species of fish. In Artis you also can learn things about planets and stars in the planetarium. They have a area of African animals and a area with animals of europe. The other things that there are: Childrens farm, The gibbon island, The small mammal house, Elephants, Wolf wood, Penguin rock, Californian sea lions, Polar bears, Insects house, Gorillas, European bison and a Savanne.

Amsterdam has a nice shopping centre with much shops and outdoor cafe`s. In the city you also can find markets with new and secondhand goods.
We also have a street called the P.C. Hoofdstraat and the shops there are very chique and expensive , so you will see a lot of rich and famous people there.

Amsterdam has also many small canals that flow trough the city, together they have a lengt of 10 km. There are 240 bridges over all the canals so almost every time you see water you will probably see a few bridges. In the small canals there are also people living in houseboats. In Amsterdam you can make a little cruise by boat trough the canals. You can also rent waterbikes to go waterbiking through the canals.

You can visit nice museums in Amsterdam.
A famous museum is the van Gogh museum( a famous painter). In that museum you can see a lot of his artwork. Another famous museum in Amsterdam is Madame Tussauds, on the dam. In that museum there are many statues made of wax of famous people and they look very real.

The soccer stadion of Amsterdam is called: The Arena. The soccer club of Amsterdam is called Ajax. The Arena is not only used for soccer but also for american football ( Amsterdam Admirals) and music concerts. It has a roof that can be opened and closed depending on the weather.

In Holland it`s aloud to smoke marihuana therefore you can see many coffeeshops in Amsterdam, where you can buy and smoke marihuana. In a small part of Amsterdam there is prostitution and that`s also legal in Holland.

I like Amsterdam because it is a beautiful and busy city.

Giethoorn

What you can do in Giethoorn you can go on a trip around the village Giethoorn also called the Venice of the Dutch. The guides wil tell you everything you need to now. And it could be done in many languages, English, German, French or Spanish you get to see an incredible view of the houses that are up to 750 years old.

Things you can do are : have a walk around the beautiful nature of Giethoorn. You can cycle through the village and surrounding area. But the most beautiful is to take boat trip trough it.

Giethoorn is also known as the Venice of the Netherlands and is known for its tourism. It's filled with little farms and beautiful gardens. The boat tours are very popular in Giethoorn. Because of all the little canals were dug there almost any place in Giethoorn can be reached by boat. Most of the trips are made in "Punters", which were used as transport for goods and other in old times. All the canals are there because of peat cutting which caused big lakes and canals to appear in and around the place.

But the boat tours aren't the only tourism activities in Giethoorn but there also are lots of musea and other things. De Oude Aarde (Meaning The Old Earth) is a Gem and Mineral museum. This museum was opened in 1969 by the adventurer René Boissevain. He collected many minerals for an unique collection for the museum, they got million year old crystals, the biggest egg in the world and a huge amethyst geode. De Witte Hoeve is a place where people used to make candles and now do workshops and make lots of special candles. There also is an Art-Shop called Duine Rhee which trades in Abstract art to Jewelry and statues.

Tourism In Rotterdam.
This is about Rotterdam and it is build in 1310 and is a city since 1340. In 1900 it started on building a harbour. It was bombarded by the germans in 1940 and since then it is growing rapidly and became the biggest city of Zuid-Holand and it became good place for tourism. Here are some places you can go to.

Rotterdam Plaza. (Right) Shopping.
If you want to go shopping in Holland Rotterdam is the place to be. There are many malls. Like the Rotterdam Plaza. It's a huge building with all kinds of colors. It is also a hang-spot for the youth.

The Erasmus Bridge. Erasmus Bridge. (Down)
A well known building in Rotterdam is the Erasmus Bridge. Some major events are held at that bridge like the Red Bull Air Race last year and this year the kick of of the Snowboard world championship.





Ahoy Rotterdam.

The biggest hall of Rotterdam. It is the place where main event are held. Like the Go Apres Ski, the Pasar Malam Asia, 100% Tuning and Hair Style 2006.

Snicker WSR '05.
Rotterdam Skatebord Capital? Wel at least for a short period of time. During the Snicker WSR '05 Rotterdam was the skatebord capital of Holland. This event was also held in Ahoy Rotterdam. There were participants like: Arto Saari, Ali Bouilala, Tom Penny, Wieger van Wageningen and Rob Maatman.

De Kuip. De K uip.(Down)

De Kuip is the soccer stadium of Rotterdam it's the place where feyenoord plays. It is also the best stadium of Holland. It has a museum thats about Feyenoord. Players like Johan Cruijff, Bonaventure Kalou, Coen Moulijn and Jaap Barendregt. Rotterdam has 3 Soccer Clubs: Feyenoord, Sparta and Excelsior.

Diergaarde Blijdorp.
This is about Diergaarde Blijdorp. It is one of the biggest zoo's of holland. There are many rare animals like the: Sumatraanse Tiger, Weverbird, Nile Crocodile, Golden Snub nose ape, Armor Rhino, Gangesgaviaal, Armor Crocidile, Galápagos Giant Turtle, Bat Hounds, Chorda Animal and the Serval. Many people come to this zoo.
