Spanish Airports


Spain currently operates some 47 airports which are situated in every corner of the country and are generally in excellent condition with modern installations and facilities you would expect in one of the worlds leading tourism destinations.


Some 194 Million passenger where processed through the gates of Spanish airports in 2006 which was an increase of 6.5% on 2005, that trend is set to continue due mainly to the expansion of routes created by the low cost carriers The airport authorities currently employ around 10.000 Personnel.


The top ranked airport in Spain ( in passenger numbers ) is Madrid's Barajas airport which processed some 46 Million passengers in 2006, followed by Barcelona with 30 Million, Palma de Mallorca on 22.5 Million, Malaga on 13 Million and Gran Canaria with 10.2 Million. 41 Million Euros has just been approved for the infrastructure of Malaga airport on the Costa del Sol, 23 Million of that is for improvements to the rail links connecting the airport to Malaga and the Coast which will undoubtedly improve the service to the 14.000.000 passengers expected to go through the airport in 2007.
