Little seems to be known about where Santiago de Murcia was born or what were the precise dates of his birth and death, although his dates are thought (by the Naxos classical music label) to be 1685-1732; this potted biography seems less certain, although it does seem certain about where he lived from 1714. However, his music is enjoyable and this piece was played by Paul O'Dette on baroque
