There are momentous moments in history that will forever inspire people, for instance, the destruction of the Berlin Wall. The Iron Curtain's destruction was a symbol of freedom, a triumphant victory over oppression. I have considered that moment one of the greatest in history, it will forever be remembered and honored and yet to my horror I was watching a documentary and saw David Hasslehoff, the epitome of cheese, singing in a flashing jacket. By flashing I mean the man had light bulbs flashing on his jacket! I was genuinely flabbergasted. The meaning of the event suddenly went from momentous to ridiculous. I might be coming off as a bit harsh here but as you can probably deduce I am not a fan of Baywatch's geriatric lifeguard.
So as I have come to accept that this man took a little bit away from the profoundness of the destruction of the Berlin Wall but who am I to judge the Germans love of the Hoff? Along with momentous events there are symbols of greatness, such as the Louvre. I've always wanted to stand in front of the Mona Lisa, a work of art painted by a man thats reputation exceeds the barriers of time and will forever be considered a visionary, Leonardo Da Vinci and wonder around soaking in the marvels of art that grace the Louvre's walls.
So you can imagine my shock at hearing that a McDonald's is being opened right next to the museum. Yes you read that correctly......A McDonald's.....I string of profanity came spilling out of my lips and I wondered why on God's green earth this is being allowed?? I am, I'll have you know, a fan of McDonald's, I love chomping on a McChicken and eating a nugget or two but to put this take away joint next to one of Paris's most exquisite museums, it's an injustice!! The true impact of the museum will be clouded by the smell of fried chips and people yelling "Two Big Macs and a Diet Coke!"
It's something I really can't understand, why would they want to downgrade one of the greatest museums on the planet!? Please come to your senses and scrap the McDonald's idea, it's a BAD one......
