West Bengal administration Monday ruled out a Central Bureau of Investigation's investigation of the May 28 Jnaneswari Express disaster in West Midnapore district, which claimed nearly 150 lives.
"The CID probe has evolved a lot and the state government does not believe that a parallel examination is necessary," Home Secretary Samar Ghosh told reporters at State Secretariat when asked about the CBI survey.
He said the Union Home Ministry had sent a letter yesterday to Chief escritoire Ardhendu Sen seek approval from the state government for a CBI examination.
Asked why a CID analysis was ordered, he said that generally, the Commissioner for Railway Safety Directive studied railway accidents. But since it was criminal involvement and sabotage in the disaster, the CID examine.
Asked how long the CID examination will take, he said, "it can not be said at once.
