After lakh of commuters to the unprecedented hardships for two days, called the Motor men of the Central and Western Railways of their strike on Tuesday in light of a Maharashtra administration warning to invoke essential services preservation Act (ESMA).
"The trains are running as per schedule since early Wednesday, said a railway bureaucrat.
Mumbai's electric trains take nearly seven million people every day. Their drivers or motor men as they are known launched the protest Monday severely affected the movement of populace into and out of town.
The work strike was called off Tuesday evening after negotiations with the Maharashtra management promised to increase drivers' requirements with the main train station board.
The drivers demanded superior wages, including overtime allowances, and security on the tracks.
