Successful launch of virtual tourist guide "walking tours" in Barcelona

Establishments of the Eurostars Hotels chain in Barcelona, are offering their guests a new value added service. “Walking Tours Barcelona” was successfully introduced in April, coupled with the latest generation MP3 players from Tourism Radio.

The “radio-guides” include over 100 places of interest in Barcelona, such as the Sagrada Familia church, the Boquería market and the Picasso Museum. This allows visitors to discover all that the city has to offer in a pleasantly entertaining manner.

Barcelona, May 4, 2009 - Eurostars Hotels establishments in Barcelona have been offering clients this new and revolutionary service for a month and already have received very positive results: more than 3 000 guests have used this value-added service, 95% of which have given positive feed back. The content of more than 100 points of interest is available in five languages and was rated at level of 8,9 out of 10 in all of them (language used: 35% English, 25% Spanish, 20% German, 5% French, 10% Italian). The most visited places were: Sagrada Familia church, Plaza Cataluña and Las Ramblas.

Jacques Teichmann, CEO of Tourism Radio Group, had this to say, “The user feed back regarding Walking Tours is very important to us in order to maintain a very high level of customer satisfaction. We are constantly improving our services and need direct market feed back to offer the best and most entertaining content to the tourists of Barcelona”, in addition, “It is a pleasure to receive a very positive feed back from the users and see that our value added service is becoming a standard service of our partner. There is no better reference for market success and seeing our partner, Eurostars Hotels, growing.”

The system provider, Tourism Radio, has achieved a strong market position, in a very short period, in one the most visited cities in the world. Offering this easy-to-use service makes the stay for the tourists an even more enjoyable experience.

TourismRadio is the first GPS radio transmitter in the world with offices in Spain, New Zealand, South Africa, Namibia, Northern Ireland and Hawaii. In addition to the Walking Tours, the company has GPS devices designed for rental cars and which offer location based tourist information in several destinations. In fact, the development of the MP3 players is the result of a market research study carried out amongst the users of the car device who requested being able to live the same experience on their walks. Next launch of Tourism Radio service:Tenerife (Canary Islands), July 2009.
