Singapore Man Gets 10 Years Jail for Role in Cheating Government Agency

Bloomberg, 14 Jan 2011Ho Yen Teck, convicted of 21 charges of conspiring to cheat the Singapore Land Authority, was sentenced to 10 years in jail for his role in the city’s biggest public-sector fraud since 1995.“A deterrent sentence is clearly warranted” because Ho’s role wasn’t that of a “mere puppet,” Singapore Subordinate Courts Judge Jasbendar Kaur told Ho during sentencing today.
