Doi Inthanon Royal Project Centre
Located atop Doi Inthanon at Ban Khun Klang in Chom Thong,
Chiang Mai, the Doi InthanonRoyal Project Centre covers
about 240 acreswith terraces of temperate flowers and othervegetation,
which have been introduced to hilltribe people to replace their
slash-andburn planting. The predominant flowers are
chrysanthemums and some rare species offerns and orchids such
as protia, prisia, anthuriums, roses, gerberas, black-stem
ferns, German ferns and orchids of the Singto family. Seasonal
fruits grown here include sweet melons and strawberries. Vegetables
here, such as butter-heads, beetroots, tomatoes and yellow stuffers,
are grownusing hydroponic technology. The produceis available fresh
from the garden in frontof the station. Early risers can alsowatch the
collection of flowers for export under the Doi Khamé brand.
The station is especially pretty in the cold season.
